The basic idea is that the way we think affects the way we feel, and that influences what we do. And sometimes, those patterns can become automatic, even if they’re not really helpful anymore.
CBT helps you slow those patterns down and gives you tools to notice unhelpful thoughts (like “I’m not good enough” or “Nothing ever works out for me”), challenge them, and replace them with more balanced, realistic ones. And once you shift those thoughts, you start feeling better and acting differently, too.
Who does CBT help? Honestly, a wide range of people.
It’s often used for anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, eating disorders, phobias, and even things like chronic pain or insomnia. If you tend to get stuck in your own head, or your thoughts feel overwhelming or overly negative, CBT can be really effective.
Why does it work? Because it’s practical, structured, and focused on ‘now’.
Instead of digging too deep into the past, CBT looks at what’s happening in your current life and gives you actual strategies to cope and change.
And you’re not just talking, you’re learning skills and you’ll often be asked to practice these skills between sessions, like journaling, tracking your thoughts, or trying new behaviours.
CBT isn’t one-size-fits-all, either. It can include different tools and approaches depending on what you’re going through.
Does this sound like something that might finally help you?
At its heart, CBT is about empowering you to understand yourself better and giving you tools that actually make a difference in your daily life.
It’s not about being positive all the time, it’s about being realistic, self-aware, and equipped to handle whatever comes your way.
Are you ready to take the next step?
Starting therapy can feel nerve-wracking, but knowing what to expect can ease the anxiety. Your first session is a chance to set personal goals, share relevant background, and get comfortable with the process.

You'll get the ball rolling by sending me a contact form so we can schedule a call that works on your schedule.

During our first call, you'll tell me a bit about yourself, your challenges, and we'll generally get to know one another.

If you think we'd be a good fit for one another, we can schedule a virtual counselling session.

If you would like to continue our sessions, I will put together an ongoing plan to help you meet your goals.

We'll regularly assess any treatment progress you've made and plan any next-steps to help you going forward.
